I have a miniature pinscher and i was trying to find out are their ears supposed to be clipped?

Answers:
The Miniature Pinscher ear crop was actually started out of necessity by German farmers 200 years ago when the ears would be attacked and partially chewed off by rats when the dog attempted to ferret them out of holes. After a short period of time farmers started cropping the ears to avoid having to deal with the problem later. These days it is not required for AKC show. It is left up to the buyer to decide as if it is done by a reputable knowledgeable vet, will not be done til approx 4 to 6 months of age. There is no guarantee that if cropped they will stand. This is a mistake many are not aware of. It is soley up to you but are their ears "suppposed" to be cropped, not really. That was standard in the past not currently.
Yes, they crop the ears on them.
Cropping the ears is optional, but personally, I think they look adorable with their natural ears.
If you're showing the dog, they crop the ears. But there is no earthly reason to put an animal through this otherwise. Please reconsider. It's a very uncomfortable and even painful, lengthy process. I speak from experience. I used to breed Great Danes for show.
Supposed to?? In any breed with cropped ears ( NOT CLIPPED ) it's optional, you don't have to crop any dog's ears..
dont crop the ears. it looks weird
It is your preference as to whether you crop your dogs ears. This is done for the show ring on this particular breed, but most pet owners don't take the time. Cropping is both costly and time consuming, and can also be painful for the dog. That said, if you feel that aesthetically you need to do that, I would recommend having it done by a vet, though there are many breeders out there who claim to know how to do so. Its just safer that way.
No dog's ear are "supposed" to be clipped. People alter their dogs ears and tails mostly because of show standards and hype. Some working dogs benefit from alterations to prevent injuries, and, of course, people who have fighting dogs do it that same reason, preventing injuries and for looking tougher.
There is no medical reason whatsoever to crop ears or tails. It is absolutely unnecessary to have it done.
i leave them alone,if its a dog the ears will erect by itself as the dog mature..and i like it that way
I had a minpin and I chose not to clip her ears. I thought it was so cute, but thats what the whole "to clip or not to clip" thing is all about.JUST LOOKS. If your dog is older just let it go, the procedure is more painful when they are mature.
well it doesn't really matter if u clip there ears because some people don't really do really do that but again some people do I have a miniature pinscher and her ears are clip I think they look really cute but it's your decision how ever you would like it it your dog
This is a cosmetic thing for show dogs. Any elective surgery just to satisfy what dogs are supposed to look like is wrong, to me anyway. Besides they are so cute with low set ears.
Since your dog came with natural ears, then don't worry about cropping them. Ears are cropped on young puppies that are going to be shown. There is serious after care to keep cropped ears up and clean and healthy.

Most vets will not crop ears on an older dog. Most vets don't know how or don't want to.

It was traditional to crop ears on Min.Pins. but it is now illegal in the UK and more people here are leaving them natural.

As long as you keep the ears clean and your dog is happy, don't worry about appearance.
you can clipped them but they look nicer if you don't do that - me dogs ears are not clipped
