I have a problem dog?

I have a Sharpie crossed with a Mastiff. She is a complete pain in the ***. The problem is feeding her. I`ve tried all the know brands. Tinned..Dry. Raw... You name it I`ve tried it. She might eat it once but thats it. Everything but Iamms. I will not use that for a reason. I wont say here...Any suggestions would be welcome. I`m running out of choices
Answers:
have you tried making food??
You have to make sure you arent giving her table food through out the day. Ive noticed when i give my pit table food, she holds out for it and wont eat her regular meals.
If you try making it it would probably work. I usually make a few weeks worth at a time. I get boneless chicken breast and rice. I make a whole slew of it and freeze some. It keeps well and my pit loves it.

Good Luck!
She is controlling you. Offer her one brand of food that she has eaten before (so that you know she does like it) and offer her nothing else, no table scraps, no treats, stick to the ONE kind of food! When she gets hungry she will eat!
J. Smith
I know it sounds mad but try a dog whisperer or dog phsycic. Then the dog will tell you what he wants
My dog used to do that too. turned out to be the dish. i dumped his food on the tile floor and he ate every last bite. i also started putting warm water with the dry food and he gobbled it all up
I know this is crazy but try spoon feeding it to her. My German Shepard is the same way so when she wont eat i get out a big spoon and feed her. She usually finishes it. I think it makes her feel like shes getting something good.
get her a good quality dog food. try wellness or chicken soup for the dog lovers soul or blue buffalo etc. leave it down for her for half an hour make sure she knows its there. if she doesnt eat it she goes hungry dont give her anything else she'll learn that if she doesnt eat what you give her she doesnt eat at all. no treats no table scraps just her dry dog food twice a day for 30mins i say 30 b/c shes big and she needs a little more time to see if she might eat. she wont starve her self its not in a dogs nature.
Why don't you try sticking with one formula of a premium brand food. I use Nutro Lamb and rice(have a dog with some allergies and one without) Then add something to it now and then to mix it I buy Natural Ballance sweet potatoe and duck or fish and now and then the venicen and brown rice (recently recalled) Pro plan has a fish formula too. But I found sticking witha base food and adding to it with different items has helped my dogs stay interested in their food. I don't use wet foods at all, stay away from them if you can
When your dog gets HUNGRY she will eat!
Wow thats bizare. I think you sould give her a specific food she has aten before or even take her to the store and maybe she will lead you to a choice.. Orr maybe she's just not in the mood to eat? Don't feed her so much and if you see any changes then I suggest taking a trip to the vet.

- Good luck =)
She'll eat when she's hungry enough. Just let her diet for a week or so, she won't strave herself, but at the moment she's totally controlling you!
She will not starve choose a food you want to feed her and she will eat when she is hungry.
try givin her hime-made food it is more healthy
Start with a trip to the vet just to make sure there's nothing medical going on. Then pick a high quality dry food and stick with it. No people food, no treats, nothing else. Feed her twice a day, the normal amount for her weight. If she doesn't it eat, pick it up after 15 minutes. Then try again at the next feeding time. Eventually, she will eat.
Pick a brand of food.

Set a schedule - I will feed at x time each day in the same place.

Put the food down on Day 1 of your schedule. Give her 15 to 20 minutes, then take away the bowl, empty the food back into its container, and put the bowl up.

Repeat as necessary.

She will eat eventually - it's okay for her to go without for a couple of days. When she gets hungry, she'll eat. She'll also learn that feeding time is for eating and that there is no food after feeding time.
I agree with Boxer. You are the boss in the house so give your dog what you think it should eat and when it gets hungry enough it will eat it.
We use Hills Science Diet.

As far as Iamms, at least they finally recalled it. Purina never did do a recall and the FDA didn't have the power to make them. Neither did Pedigree. I like Hills because they did recall at the first sign of trouble unlike the Menu foods that waited for two months and the two that refused to recall. I just feel Hills showed the most responsibility plus they rarely use any vegetable protein except corn which is a domestic product.

Have you considered making her food? Meat, grain and a few veggies mixed. You can find recipes on the web. Since Mastiffs are so big it would take several pounds of meat a week.
Maybe you are trying too much. Get the dog checked by a Vet to see if there is anything wrong causing the lack of appetite. If not, then you might want to keep her on one diet and it is good to feed a large breed adult twice a day at least. You just divide the daily amount between the feedings and put the food down for about fifteen minutes. If she doesn't eat, pick it up and wait until the next feeding before putting food out. Repeat. Stick with one diet, the one she liked the best and does the best on, and see if that doesn't balance out for her after a week of doing this. She may also be having stomach upset from changing her diet so often. What you can do for that, is whatever diet you decide to put her on to start this feeding, add or feed her on the side about a half a small can of pumpkin pie filling. That is something natural that helps dogs when they are sick or stressed or changing diets, to prevent them from getting diarrhea or stomach upset, or to treat it if the dog is already sick.
But VET CHECK first.
your being too soft, believe me, if she is hungry enough, she will eat anything. just don't give her anything else and she will learn that this is what she should eat and you will not give anything else but this, or maybe she just does not like the food are giving her. you should try butcher's selects from pedigree ( not part of the pet food recall). it has 50% more real meat than regular canned food, which is about 75% meat! dog love meat.
I have had this problem before. I tried Purina Beneful and boy was it a hit. I have dachshunds and watch their weight closely, so they are on the healthy weight formula. My sister had the same problem with dogs and I recommended Beneful it worked for her dog too. He is using the original formula. The other option I have heard is to add dog gravy topping to some of the dry food and a lot of dogs really like that. The only problem with that is once you start, you probably won't be able to stop using it.
Most importantly, pick a food and try not to switch so rapidly without phasing the food in and out of the dogs diet. This way they are getting some of the old and the new for about a week until their system gets used to the new food you have chosen. Otherwise, the dogs will likely get loose bowels when the start the new food.
Try mixing gravy in with the food, or you could buy chicken gizzards and boil them, then use the juices and bits (after chopping) mixed in with the food.
try foil pouches dog food in gary with bakers complete meal mixed with just a little hot water she is she eats tht if not try her on cat food hope tht helps
Feed her one of the formulas from http://www.frrco.com/121668 Dogs love it!

Do not feed her anything else, not treats, not anything, until she is eating on a schedule.

Put the recommended portion in her dish, and set it down on the floor. Pick up the bowl after 15 minutes if she hasn't eaten anything.

Put the bowl back down with the food at the next scheduled feeding, which would be evening if you feed her 2x a day. Pick the bowl up after 15 minutes and put it up if she does not eat. Put it down again in the morning.

She will not starve. Once she realizes that food is not readily available, and she needs to eat what she is offered, she will eat. Just be sure to keep plenty of fresh water down as always for her.

Do NOT give her choices! If you do, she will always expect you to offer her something else, and this can lead to digestive and diarrhea issues. Purchase on type of food, and then leave her on it.
I think your dog is spoiled for choice and can't make up her mind what she wants. It's not a hotel she is in. Get her into routine. Leave her food down in front of her and leave it for a while and when she sees nothing else coming she will eat it. Children are the same, they can get spoiled too. It will take a while for her to get use to it. Be patient it will be worth it in the long run.
A healthy dog will never starve to death.
You are spoiling the dog.
There is nothing wrong with him as all.
Select one brand and stick to it.
Leave the food down until he eats it.
If its still there after a day throw it away and put fresh stuff down but don't change the brand.

Seems he is the boss not you.
You need to turn it around
If a dog is hungry they will eat! Anything!

Because you keep changing the brand she has been taught to be a fussy eater! Pick one brand and put the food down for 10 minutes for her. At the end of the 10 minutes if she has eaten or not, take the food away. Do not offer her any thing else until the next meal time (if she is an adult dog she should be on 2 meals a day). Then repeat the 10 minute offer of food.

I expect she will refuse the food for about 3 meals. Then she will be hungry and will eat it. If you keep up the programme of offering it for 10 mins etc, she will realise that you are now in charge of food - not her - and she will eat what she is given when she is given it as is natural for a dog.

Be bold and brave and strict and she will be transformed into a non fussy eater!
hi,i had a dog who was exactly the same!
i cured her fussiness in 2 days.
simply do not feed her for 24 hours..make sure she is hungry, dogs in the wild can go for days in between a kill.
Then the next day make up a small portion of the chosen food in her dish (about half of the normal quantity).let her see you mix it up,then tell her to sit and wait, then simply pretend to eat It your self use a spoon so she can see you pretending to eat it and make mm this is delicious sounds, after a min or so ask her to lay down or give her paw, take one more imaginary mouth full and give her the food.she should eat it all.
do the same the next day increasing the amount to normal.
remember always pretend to take the first mouth full ,you are the leader of the pack and should take priority when food is being served.no snacks in between meals and fresh water at all times.
good luck.
Your dog will not let herself starve to death. Pick the food you want to use and offer it to her. Leave it down for about 10 minutes and if she doesn't eat it, take it away. Don't offer it again until her next meal time and repeat process.
Like I said, she will NOT starve. Be determined, even if you feel mean, it will be worth it. Don't give in. Good luck.
you should try some rice with some chappie biscuits. my dogs love it!
