I have a puppy and its it first day and he wont eat his food or drink water.what should i do?

Answers:
Give it a little time to adjust. Big change for the little guy
Leave him alone he is scared and needs time to adjust and get use to his surroundings. Put his food and water down and show him where is it. then just let him be, believe me he won't go hungry
Just leave food and water out. He's going to get hungry some time.
Give him a chance to adjust to his new surroundings. He should settle in a day or two. Try feed him the same type of puppy food he ate before you got him - that'll help settle him in.

BTW, DON'T leave food out for him all the time like the other posts suggest. He'll never get into a good feeding routine if he can constantly eat and you'll have no way of controlling his appetite. Feed him at the same times every day, that way he'll know when to expect food and you'll also know when he needs to go to the toilet! That way you can schedule your walks on 'toilet time'.
I am sure the puppy will come around... He is n a new home so he has to get use to his new environment. Also, place the food in ur hand and let the puppy eat from ur hand, if its dry food or wet, doesn't matter..
The puppy is probably not adjusted to its food, ask the previous owner what type of food it ate and feed it that , also he might be afraid or timid at around u.Hope this helps!
That's not unusual. We ask a lot of puppies when we bring them home. He's just been taken away from everything he's ever known. It may take him a few days to settle in. The food isn't as serious as the water, but if it goes on for more than a day or two, I'd consult a vet.

Here are some suggestions though:
- play with him. A lot. Run him ragged. -then- offer him some water. If he's thirsty, he'll drink.
- If you feed him kibble, wet it with warm water until it's soggy.
- Tempt his appetite with a few treats: a little bit of cooked chicken, a little rice or even a bit of broth mixed in with his normal food should get him started. Even a little baby food mixed in is alright.
-force water down with a medicine dropper. It'll be messy, and you'll both probably get wet, but if it comes to this... you should probably talk to a vet.

- Are you feeding him the same food as what he was eatting at the Breeders/where you got him? If not, it might take him a few days to try it. I suggest TRYING to get the same kind of food he was eatting before, and mixing in, gradually over a period of a few days the new food you'd like to feed him.

DO be careful about what's out there. Buy Grain-free or wheat-gluten free dog foods. There's still plenty of contaminated food out there.
He's stressed out. Take the food away and offer it to him later on. Don't ever free feed a dog.
Give it milk. It will make the dog need to poo a lot though. But once that situation happened to me before.

there is nothing wrong, your puppy is just getting used to things its all new to him give him time show him where it is it will be ok dont worry.......
It's normal for a dog to do that on it's first day.It will get use to the food.
