One of the main reasons that dogs do not eat other than some kind of illness is because they are not getting the required attention or exercise. I know its hard with work and resposibillities but pit bulls are very energetic dogs. They need at the mininum a long walk and the ability to all out run on a everyday basis. To give your do the ability to run, play fetch in your back yard for 20-30 mins or take him to the dog park if hes properly socialized. If you are already doing this, it could be an illness or try adding some type of meat to his food. You can cut up a beef hot dog (make sure its beef not any of the other types of hot dogs) or add some ground beef. Also there is a product you can buy called dog food gravy which you can add to dry dog food which gives it a flavor dogs love. If you are feeding your dog dry dog food make sure you are adding a little bit of hot water to it, this helps prevent bloat and dogs enjoy the moisture. good luck
Pat him, maybe he'll chew your arm off.
Not knowing how long the puppy, regardless of breed, is not eating, try switching food, to a formula they will enjoy, wet canned food, mixed wtih dry food. If he has not excepted any food for a day or more, take the puppy to the vet immediately. May be the sign of a more serious condition.

Try to stay away from people food, because your dog will expect it always!
Does he eat anything else? Try putting butter on it. It usually helps for pills but try it for food. Then gradually put less and less in it.
He might have worms or if you just got him, he's probably a nervous wreck and until he's comfortable, he won't eat.
Try to feed him normally. Leave his food out for 10 or 15 minutes, if he doesn鈥檛 eat put the food away. He needs to learn to eat when you give him food, and is unlikely to starve himself. He may continue to be picky eater for a while. You may also try adding some cultured yogurt or cultured cottage cheese to his diet for a few days, this may help his stomach. If does not eat for two days, call a vet.
Have you been giving him table scraps? There are a couple questions that should be addressed. Is you puppy drinking water? Does your dog have that puppy energy or is he just laying around? Is he eating grass? (his stomach might be upset). Is the temperature hot in your area (some dogs eat less during the summer). If you puppy isn't drinking water and is just laying around then he needs to see a vet .
If you just got him I would say it is because he is in a new place. If you have had him for awile he might be sick and should be seen if it worsens. I hope he gets to feeling better I know how that feels. When there sick you feel sick and sad.
Take him to the vet, and find out what is going on. It may be nothing, but you need to be sure.
