I didn't put as much time in training him as I did his mother, and now I need tips on how to train him not to jump on people and stuff like that, anyone got any tips that can help?

yes you should try tying him up on a lease or teach him how to sit or lay down. you can teach him how to sit or lay down by showing him how by using his favorite toy or food.

Get a book from the library, hire a trainer, or sign up for a class.
what you can do is you can get one of the traning to your dog guide books to teach him or when your traning him get some treats and if he does the right thing reward him and if he dose the opposite thing then dont reward him because then he will learn not to and if that does not work you can go to like pets mart and join the obedince and they can help you and give you could tips
