Answers:
Take him to the vet, even with a lot of veterinary experience my wife and I still find it impossible to diagnose over the internet.
Well. The fact that he isn't doing anything... eating etc isn't going to be a big deal, because he is new to you and needs to learn about his new environment..
I am surprised that a shelter would adopt you a dog that still has his ' balls ' ... Usually they spay or neuter them, rather irresponsible of them..
Anyhow, licking his balls, is likely a nervous thing for him.. Something he does when he is feeling out of sorts and worried.. Make him feel at ease with out sucking him up.. Talk nicely to him, show him the place, make up a snuggly spot for him to sleep and give him some toys to play with.. He'll likely quit licking his balls when he is feeling better.. Also since he is new to you, take him to the vet this week for a complete check up.. Then you can get the vet to remove his balls and then it won't be an issue at all.

P.S.. Balls are pink..
Instead of jibbering on about your dog, take the poor thing to the VETS.Why did you get a dog if you cannot look after it.People like you make me sick,do the right thing and get him to a vet.....Liz.
You should deffinitly take him to the vet. he could just be scared but the vet can give you pointers on caring for your dog. It will probably fine but still ask just to be safe.
When a male dog licks ihimself in a way you have described he has a bladder infection. Has nothing to do with the fact that he is in a new home, he is in pain and needs to go to a vet and get some anibiotics.
As much fun as it is to talk about dog balls, our dog didn't do that when we got him; instead he chewed on everything that hit the ground, including one of our steak knifes. We bought him a stuffed animal and some other toys to chew on. After annihilating 2 of the stuffed animal, he seemed to be cured of his habit. Maybe it will help you dog with his habits.
Where did you adopt this dog? Was he neutered? If not he should be. If he has been neutered that would be the reason for the cut, and the pinkness. DO NOT let him continue to lick. Try putting an E-collar on him until he heals. You can get these at PetSmart, or your vet.
The lack of eating may be due to being in a strange place. Try hand feeding him and enticing him with canned food. Or try a little canned chicken broth in his food or just to drimk for the time being. Keeps him hydrated plus gives him some nutrients.
Give him time to acclimate to you and your family. Understand he is stressed and need patients, understanding and love.
If he con tinues to have problems in his scrotum area. Call the shelter you adopted him from, or a good vet. And he shouldn't be running ig he was just neutered. At least for a week.
And THANK YOU for adopting an adult dog. They have just as much love to give as a puppy and have a lesser chance of being adopted judt because they are older.
Good luck with your new friend.
hmmm if u got him from a shelter the dog just got fixed its pink cause there are stitches in it and STOP HIM!!!!! its a new homes it unnerving...hes scared. and well he just had his nutts taken...soooo...didn't the shelter tell u this?
First, try sprinkling some "baby" powder on his tummy and his private area. Second, anytime you bring a new animal in to a unfamiliar place, their going to be a nervous. If he doesn't calm down and start breathing normal after the first 24 hours, you should take him to the vet. Make sure he's drinking water. Dogs tend to dehydrate easily when their stressed. You can hand feed him water. Most of the time they will lick it off you're hand.
Sins you just got him he is most likley skard and he is giting the durt out of his balls.
He really needs to be seen by a vet! Something could be seriously wrong, especially since he isn't eating!
mayb..

but you need to take him to the vet and pronto.
