I need help with my dog asap?

I have a 1 1/2 yr old toy fox terrier. It's 10:00pm and early around 8 I noticed a red (size of a nickel) on his stomach. Then about 10 min ago it's became a ring now. We checked him after going outside and didn't see anything. I'm so nervous right now for him and me (b/c I don't know if it's contagious). Any ideas what this could be? I'm going to take him to the Vet first thing tomorrow b/c it could be ringworm or maybe Lyme disease. Thanks...
Answers:
It may be ringworm, but dogs do not get the bullseye rash with Lymes disease like people do. Try putting a little antifungal ointment (like the ones for athletes foot) on the spot for tonight, and then take him to the vet in the morning. Also be sure to thoroughly wash your hands after touching him because ringworm is highly contagious.
Sounds like ringworm to me, it's easily treated, and nothing to be overly concerned about. You might contract it, but again, no big deal (I got it once, when I worked at a dog shelter).
i dont think it's anything contagious, but sure it could be ringworm. it'll be fine untill the morning when you take it to the vet.
it sounds to me like worms. i'm not a vet, but I do have 6 dogs and lots of experience with "worms." If he is acting ok, then you should be fine until tomorrow. If there is a 24 hr. animal hospital in your area, you can call them and they may be able to tell you something over the phone. But as long as he is acting ok, eating/drinking/wagging his tail/ you should be fine until tomorrow. It is possible for humans to get worms from their pets. But its not very easy. Symtoms are upset stomach, diahrea, %26 nausea. If you experience any of these symptoms just make a doctor appt. and they can give you antibiotics to get rid of it. I know it sounds gross.but its not very common for humans to get worms.
Sounds like ringworm and if it is, is super contagious!
It may be a ring worm!..And ringworm is contagious..and it can be dangerous if it moves into the heart...so please take him to the vet ASAP!

good luck! =}
Cats have ringworm more often than dogs. Just keep an eye on him and take him to the vet. It may just be an insect bite.
It sounds a bit like ringworm. When I was a kid I caught ringworm from my cat, so I would suggest that you do not touch it, and keep the dog out of your bed.
It sounds like ringworm, which isn't actually a worm, it's a fungus. It is contagious to humans. It's not that serious but it's good that you're going to the vet for treatment.
Sounds like he could of got bit by something like a bee or ant.
If it is a bald spot then its probably ringworm. If no bald spot then he got bit from something outside. But a vet could better tell you.
It could be ringworm, which isn't that big of a deal, but is contagious, or worms, or a number of other things. If there aren't really any changes in behavior and it isn't causing him pain or anything I would just watch it and take him to the vet tomorrow. But stressing won't do anything but stress out your dog because he will sense your stress.

The person that said ringworm can be dangerous if it moves into the heart is wrong. Ringworm is a fungus NOT a real worm and therefore doesn't not spread to internal organs.

I hope things turn out ok.
If he starts having difficulty breathing, vommiting, shakes, etc. get him to a ER vet ASAP. Many dogs can get bit by widow %26 recluse spiders, if you live in AZ (or surrounding areas) they can run into scorpions.

Did you check the site for any puncture marks? (spiders leave a charistic two puncture mark bite)

It could also be an allergy. Or it may be as others said ringworm. Watch him carefully thru the nite.
it sounds like ringroom but no biggy. take your pup to the vet and yes you most likely have contracted it but as long as you catch it early and go to your doctor it will only take a week or two of medication to have it all cleared up!
this could be ring worm,

but there are plenty of other things it could be.

ring worm in dogs is not always the typical round lesion as in humans, so you simply cannot make the diagnosis just on shape or appearence of the lesion.

a much more common problem which appears in the way you have describes is a simple superficial skin infection with bacteria (most often Shaphylococcus intermedius)

so my advise would be
1/ DONT PANIC do take him to the vets, but this may be something very simple
2/ if you do touch the area, wash your hands after. (as you should with your dog any way)
3/ dont put any lotions or ointments on the lesion, this will just make diagnosis harder, and without knowing what the problem is you may not get this to clear quickly.
Woah there.. It's NOT ringworm. Ringworm in humans has the classic ring. in animals it does not. Could be some other type of irritant. bug bite, allergy, etc. You can give your dog some Benedryl... 1mg/1lb. ex: if your dog weighs 25lbs, give it 25mg of Benedryl. See your vet in the morning if it has gotten any worse. If it is ringworm, it will fluoresce under a blacklight. The vet can check with one of those (if you have one, feel free) If he has any trouble breathing or develops swelling around his face. find an emergency vet asap.
sounds like ringworm!!!!!!!...
GO TO THE VET ASAP!
they usually have 24 hr emergancy hospitals

GOOD LUCK!
