Keep treats in your pocket.
Never hit her is the first step! Then, always be the one that feeds her/fills her water bowl. Foods the key to a dog's heart..lol!
Play as much as you can with her, be the one who takes her for long walks. Praise her and give the doggy plenty of treats. (try having your pup learn commands!)
just spend time with her and pet her but have her respect you.They dont truly love you unless they respect you.So pet her but be firm and consistent too.

Spend a lot of time with it and give it attention. Don't ignore it. Usually it takes time. What I would do is enter some classes at pets mart and train it. They respect you and love you when they are fully trained. And if they lick you in anyway, that is dog language for I love you! This sounds funny, but if you lick them it shows your love. Also, try not to smile a lot b/c that is a sign of agression.
I don't know if you are talking about showing her off to the public or in a dog show. For a dog show the dog has to be registered in the AKC, otherwise forget it.
Just be there. Take care of her, play with her, walk her, feed her, water her, make sure she gets proper vet care, make sure you have her spayed, and just love her and she will know it. They always know.
