Adopting and paying an adoption fee is basically paying the vet bill. The rescues jusat get it all taken care of for you so there is no hassle. And they make sure it gets done if they do it.
the aspca or sicsa are in most cities..check with the local pound. youll find them and get a nice new friend. usually they offer spay and neuter and a discount. good luck.
Why does it need to be free? Can you pay a small adoption fee (about $50)? Why not go to the pound? I'm not sure how you could possibly not find anything on petfinder or at a pound. What about craigslist.com? Try http://www.indianapolis.craigslist.org/p... there are a bunch of free pets on there now.. one is even a husky puppy.
Even if you get it free, a dog will run you about $1000 a year in upkeep for the next 15-20 years. If money is tight, you might want to reconsider.
find out what kind he can handle the check out adotion shelter
