I need help on my dog?

Hi there i just got a boston terrier and he is caughing we took him to the vet and gave us medicine but how do i give it to him they are pills i tried it in his food but will spit it out .
Answers:
Stand behind the dog lift head up open mouth put pill in shove down with fingers close mouth hold snout rub neck till he swallows.

Becareful those little ones are fiesty.
try cutting it up in 3 pieces and give it to him in a hot dog
Stick it down their throat. Pills are small and they won't choke on it. They will swallow it easily. I give my dog benedryl this way (cocker spaniel). It's easy and you just get a little slobber on your hand.
we have boxers and they wont take any medicine. I have to open their mouth and put the medicine as far down as i can so they can't cough it back up. It sounds mean, but its the only way my doggies will take their meds.
open his mouth , push the pill way down the back of his throat, close his mouth, praise give a treat.. simple,,,,, last i knew boston terriers where quite small
Use your finger to hook the side of his mouth and apply pressure to the roof of the mouth. This will keep the mouth open. Place the pill in the back of the throat as far as possible and close the mouth tightly. Rub the dogs throat untill he swallows.
If he won't take it in food, you need to administer them manually. Hold your dog and gental open his mouth. (You may need one person to hold him while the other gives the pill.) Put the pill as far back in his throat as you can and hold his mouth shut. Rub his throat gently to encourage swallowing. Let him go when you feel him swallow. He probably won't like this at all, but many dogs will just eat around pills in food or spit them out afterwards, so this may be your only option.
have you tried hiding it in a small piece of hot dog or something like that? something he will eat really fast? if that doesn't work you will have to put it in the back of his throat , tilt his head back with hands over snout and rub his throat in a downward motion until you feel him swallow. They also have pill poppers for this that you insert in the side of the mouth of the dog to help you do this.
Try putting it into a small amount of peanut butter and giving that to him.
Or wrap it in a piece of cheese.
Or if you have some soft dog treats stick into one of those.
They make a pill pocket wrap thing you can find at many pet stores. It is like playdough and you put it around the pill and give.
Good luck some dogs are very smart to get the pills out of what ever you use.
As a last resort I use two people one opens the mouth the other inserts the pill into the back of the dogs mouth and hold closed for a minute.
Put the pill in a dab of peanut butter. Most dogs LOVE peanut butter, and it's sticky enough that it will effectively hide the pill so the dog will swallow it.
Put it in a small piece of cheese or get some pill pocket treats from your vet. They are little doggie treats that are pocket shaped - you put the pill in and give the dog the treat.

If you put it in the food oftentimes the dog will just fish around it. Inside a small treat it usually goes right on down.

If it comes to it, tilt your dog's head back, stick the pill in way back and stroke his throat and watch till he swallows. Pet him for being a good dog. Down it will go nearly every time.
If they are "solid" you can either crush them up between two spoons and give it in a little "YUMMY" treat (gravy, cheese whiz, etc...
If they are capsules they are even easier to do the same.
If you are not afraid the easy way if to "SHOVE" it down the throat, but if you are not proficient in doing so they make a "PILLER" at the vets that costs about 3.99 It will "SHOVE" it down there for you!!!
there are several different options, you can try a pill shooter but you'll have to hold his mouth open long enough to stick the pill in his mouth then once you've got the pill in his mouth hold it closed and rub on his throat helping him to swallow. or you can wrap the pill in cheese or a favorite treat. if nothing else works you may have to go back to the vet for more help.
Well, I have a bassett hound, and I recently took him to the vet due to coughing, etc., where he was diagnosed with allergies, hence he needs to take medicine. I have no problem slipping this to him in a hot dog. He actually looks forward to his hot dog in the mornings. I hope this helps. Its the easiest way that I have found.
juzt put da pills in da hot dog datz wut i did
If your dog wont eat it even when you put it in a piece of food I would suggest either, if its a capsule you could break it open and mix it in with you dogs food or if its just a hard pill you can crush it up and mix it in your dogs food.. but if you are going to break open a capsule or crush the pill up and mix it in the food, you need to make sure that your dog will eat ALL of the food so that it gets all of its meds and you should probably call your vet and ask if its okay to crush up the pill and mix it in your dogs food. The vet might also have some suggestion on how to get your pup to take his meds!

Our oldest APBT, Brooklyn, sounds alot like your pup! lol.. Brooklyn is so picky! He wont eat pills no matter what we put it in! We will put a pill in some cheese, a hot dog or some other kind of food and he will somehow eat everything else and the spit out the pill! lol! EVERYTIME! If we want him to take a pill we HAVE to crush it up and mix it in his food. Our youngest APBT, Destiny, will eat ANYTHING! She gets excited about taking pills, she thinks its a treat! lol.. We give them each 2 vitamins a day and with Brooklyn I just crush it up and mix it in his 1st meal of the day and with Destiny I just give her the 2 vitamins like they are treats right before her 1st meal of the day... Every dog is different, so you just have to figure out what works for your pup!... Good luck! :)
Open your dog's mouth and place the pill as far down his throat as possible then gently hold his mouth shut until he swallows it.
I gave my dog antibiotics by crushing the pill %26 putting it in a syringe of water. Crush it, squirt water in the cup/bowl, %26 suck it up with the syringe. It's best if you measure the water with the syringe first so you know you get the whole pill. It squirts down the throat easily.
First of all you dog probably doesn't like the pill because these pills are usually bitter. What you could do is buy NUTRICAL it is a dog vitamin that comes in a tube like a tooth paste. Here is what you can do; cut the pill into four pieces, and mix it with the nutrical, take a spoon and give it to him. He won't notice the pill due to the NUTRICAL is sweet.
Good Luck
