he's two years old, and i just got him yesterday. his previous owners did not train him in any way, so he doesnt know any commands nor is he potty trained. i spent the weekend with him, and everything was okay, because he at least knows not to pee on me when i hold him, but at other times, i have to put him in a big box or else he would pee on any household thing he sees. we're planning on getting him into training classes, but it'll definitely be awhile before he gets potty trained. so now when i'm at school and my parents are at work, we don't have anywhere to put him except in the box. the box is big enough, but he barks and whines whenever he's inside. we can't even let him walk and run around the house. and he refuses to pee in bushes and on trees like normal dogs. what should i do with him espeically during the day when we're not around?
and p.s. he hasnt gone #2 for two days...i don't think that's too normal?

I have 2 yorkies and I know what you are going through. What you can do is get him a bellyband. It is a piece of cloth that you put a pad in the catches the urine. You could also get him a disposable doggie diaper. The bellyband is cheaper, because you only have to change the pad a few times a day. My male yorkie has his on everyday. It really saves carpet and floor. Just make sure if you get him either one of these to wash around his private area so he doesnt get a rash or get irritated skin. You can buy both products at petsmart. About the pooping part give him another day because he is getting used to his new surroundings, but I would def. take him to the vet if he doesn't poop tomorrow.
I had the same problem when I got mine... I have a 1 1/2 tea-cup yorkie. At first I had to take him out every hr to make sure he didn't do anything in the house. At this time I had a pom that was already potty trained. This might have made it easier but I would suggest that you take him out every hour to the place you want him to pee from now on. Either by doing puppy pads or in back yard. (ps I would not do puppy pads, if you have a backyard that would be better). After you feed him or he drinks water... take him out and say potty... after you play ex: for 15 mins etc... take him out. I would but a crate with some toys for him to stay in during the day or if the backyard is fenced in good enough you can leave him out side with a doghouse during the day. Once he gets his scent out in the yard he will start going their. There is a hormone scent you can buy to pour into the grass in yard so he can smell it and know to go there. Once you get him neutered, this will help as well. Once you get him on a routine, he will know when can hold it and wait to pee.
If he starts to smell around or dart... he needs to pee!!
There is a really great website with lots of yorkie information on it someone there will definatly be able to help you out! www.yorkietalk.com
