I just got a puppy, is she doing ok? Im so worried!?

My 8 week old little girl Bella had a long, 3 hour drive in my car. She threw up on the way, and I was worried for a while. Now it's the next day and she is fine. She pees and poops and eats and sleeps and plays, she is a little ball of energy! But when we took her out to play, my younger brother stepped on her. She cried for about 20 seconds and ran away. Now shes sleeping in a corner which looks like she is in a akward postion, but shes not crying. Is she ok? We are trying to get a appointment at the vet tomarrow. I just hope she doesn't get so stressed out in her new, big surroundings and doesn't miss her siblings and mother to much. Please, any suggestions are welcomed!

Throwing up in the car is normal, dogs get carsick really easily. Being stepped on may have hurt or scared her, so very gently, feel for any lumps or sore spots on her. If you think you feel something broken or out of place, check the same spot on the other side of her body to see if it matches before you worry.

The way she's sleeping is normal as well. Puppies who share a sleeping space with their littermates climb all over each other and fall asleep in the weirdest positions. She's probably in the corner because she's used to being propped up against a brother or sister. Or, she may be getting too much attention and want a few minutes to herself to calm down. One thing that will help her adapt to her new house is to put a little ticking clock next to her when she sleeps, and give her a shirt that smells like you. (A dirty t-shirt or sweatshirt is best.) Puppies are used to hearing a heartbeat while sleeping, so the rhythm of the clock ticking will help her relax.

Get her a vet appointment even if she's fine, you want to make sure she's 100% healthy and adapting well to her new environment. Good luck!
take her to bed with you ,pet her and push around her body to see if she hurts anywere .
She probably threw up in the car yesterday because she was motion sick. No need to worry too much about that. However, being stepped on is an unfortunate accident. Make sure she is walking and eating, and if she is, then she is probably okay. You are right to get her to the vet as soon as possible to make sure she is okay.
She may be fine, but it depends on how solidly he stepped on her, get her checked... a little throw up isn't to big a deal, my cocker spaniel does it when shes to excited, eats to fast or doesn't agree with my political views... but a marked change in personality coupled with the accident may indicate something more serious... I'd get her in ASAP
I wouldn't worry about the car ride. Some dogs tend to get carsick, just like people. My dog does that and she's just fine. :D About her being stepped on, I'd say a trip to the vet is your best bet. If she's not whimpering, that's probably a good sign, but I'd check in just to be sure.
well your idiot brother probably really hurt her when stepping on her. i'm glad you're taking her to the vets. that would have put a damper on her settling in smoothly.
She just got car sick and vomited very normal. As far as being stepped on if she is acting normally then she is probably ok too. Pups are very tough and hearty.
Keep the vets appointment then you can rest a bit easier. She needs a new puppy check up anyway.
Shes probably okay, she may just be scared because she got stepped on,where was she stepped on, oh and I think that its probably still a good idea to get her checked out at the vet, just in case i hope she's okay though. Good Luck!
Give her some time to adjust to her new home. She probley got sick from the car ride because she's never been in a car before.
Take her to the vet ASAP. Do you have an emergency vet clinic near you that you could take her to right now?? I'm npt worried about her car ride she probably was car sick but your brothers stepping on her could have done alot of damage. She needs to be seen like today!! She could have broken bones and even internal organ damage. She really could be in the position that she might not make it until tomorrow. GET TO A VET CLINIC RIGHT NOW! Good Luck
all dogs get sacred in the car because they are scared of the vet he will be fine he might have a broken bone thought
many times you can call and talk to a vet- free of charge-especially if its the vet you plan on using-
it was typical for some dogs to get car sick on long car rides
I would try cuddling her so she knows that you didn'tmean to hurt her and while you are holding her you can kinda pass your hand gently all over and if she yelps or cry when you touch a certain spot you kinda know what to tell the vet.
but I would look in the yellow pages- call a friend who has a vet and give them a call- usually they leave a beeper/pager or cell number where they can be reached - IF they DON"T i wouldn't use them - vets are just like pediatricians the good ones are always ready to help out and give some advice
she is probably just scared but just check her where she was stepped on she will let you know if it bothers her but a visit to the vet is probably a good idea.
What a Cutty!
I think she's all right. Just spoil her around, put pillows near her to sleep so she thinks she's with her brothers.
Regarding car sickness, mine did throw up the first time too.
just don't feed her two hours before leaving next time, and It'll be ok. She has to get used to it.
Good luck
she definitly threw up fromt he stress of a car ride...when you have a new puppy in your home..the first few days you shouldnt do too much with her.. just let her get used to her sorroundings and inroduce her slowly to all the exzitement of meeting new people and doing new things..
as far as being stepped on it could be one of two things... either it was too overwhelming at first and then being stepped on makes her uncomfortable and scared so she is sleeping hiding in a corner..or she could be hurt and not no how to express herself. when she walks to her food etc, does she limp?? thats your clue..
if in pain she will limp..if she starts cowering when ppl are close to her she is just afraid...introduce things slowly and gently to her and spent some quality alone time with her...just cuddling and reassuring her(she could miss her siblings and mom) and get her used to you so she knows you wonthurt her..and she will begin to trust you then..its a whole lifetime of fun times w/ ur pup.. but you need that trust.. they need to know that you will take care of them..and they will do the same for you..
good luck with your new pup.. i had the same issues when i first got my dog.. he is now 8 and we couldnt be closer..!!
The throwing up in the car is normal (motion sick). The stepping on is more than likely not a big deal but you are right in taking her to the vet. There are several ways to help her not miss her family, hold and love on her a lot. Let her in bed with you. If you can't let her sleep in bed with you get a wind up alarm clock and put it in a box with a warm blanket for her. The clock simulates a heart beat and will comfort her. Just be as kind as you can and she will be fine. I hope this helps. You are doing a great job. Also please let us know what the vet says so that we know that she is O.K.
I agree with Alicia G. TAKE YOUR DOG TO THE VET RIGHT NOW! Especially if he stepped on her with a lot of weight. A puppy needs to be handled gently for physical and psychological reason as many of the things it experiences is for the first time. She could be afraid. But get her checked out for internal organ damage and broken bones. Dont forget just cause your dog is not crying does not mean it is fine, she has no idea how to tell you what is wrong. It is your job to figure it out and quickly.

As for the throwing up, it can mean many things at this point but probably was stress and is nothing to worry about unless it happens continually.

Hope she is ok!

Crate train her, or give her a small confinement area, and make sure she sleeps in the same room with you at night so she isnt separated from her new "pack."

Good luck.
If they go to homes where they are shown love, and respect, they really don't miss their siblings.
It's impossible to say whether or not she is okay or not physically, I can't see her from here.. No one can..
You have to teach the kid to be more careful.. You are going to create a dog that doesn't like kids and doesn't trust people, if these incidents keep happening. You should teach your brother how to respect animals, show him how to treat them and show don't allow him to pick the puppy up and carry it, and no jumping around.. Puppies can get seriously hurt when they are stepped on.. You'll have to see the vet, he'll tell you if any damage has been done.. And be more careful!
she was probably just motion sick. i think that she is fine. she might be a little bit sore, but she will get better
Yeah, definitely need to take the baby to the vet. But until then the best thing you can do is spend lots of time with it and nurture it. Number one, it has NO idea what's going on and what's gonna happen next. So it is stressed. And it may be hurt too, and since you don't know that...the best thing to do is let her know you're there and she's gonna be fine. I wouldnt leave it alone long at all. (if any) Good luck and hope it's OK!!!
I am sure she is fine. It takes a few days for a new puppy to get used to its new home. It will be fine.
